Habitat Enrichment to Ensure Adequate Food Supply and Nutrition for Endangered Wild Banteng in Paitan-Sugut Region of Sabah
This project focuses on habitat enrichment within a designated conservation area of the Paitan Forest Reserve to increase food availability for wild Bornean banteng. Regular field visits support the implementation and monitoring of these interventions, contributing to improved health and reproductive success of this critically endangered species. The initiative demonstrates effective wildlife management strategies to strengthen banteng populations through habitat enhancement.
Bringing Back Our Rare Animals (BORA) is a nonprofit working to prevent the extinction of endangered species and support their recovery in the wild. Its work includes species population recovery, habitat restoration, and improving food availability. BORA received the Hornbill Award in 2021 for its efforts to mitigate human-elephant conflict through habitat solutions. Actively collaborating with partners, BORA focuses on conserving Malaysia’s globally threatened large mammals and strengthening ecosystems where they live.
