THF Conservation Bootcamp

THF believes in the potential of future generations of conservation practitioners to lead the growth of impactful work at the frontline of conservation. In 2019, we partnered with Tropical Biology Association and South East Asia Rainforest Research Programme for the first Bootcamp, which attracted 23 participants from Southeast Asia. The second Bootcamp by THF in 2022 was designed by local conservation practitioners to contextualise local conservation scenarios, bringing together 16 participants within the country.

The THF Conservation Bootcamp focuses on practical knowledge and skills, building early-career participants with a strong foundational understanding of the multi-faceted and interdisciplinary nature of conservation work. The Bootcamp also connected a network of conservation practitioners from across Malaysia as part of the learning experience.

The 2025 THF Conservation Bootcamp is back!

17-21 November 2025 in Penang

We believe that protecting nature also means equipping the next generation of conservation leaders with the tools, perspectives, and support they need.

The THF Conservation Bootcamp is one way we do this.

This year, we bring together early-career conservationists from across Malaysia for an immersive programme in Penang. Through courageous conversations about conflict, self-reflection, adaptive management, and collective leadership, the bootcamp will challenge participants to rethink how to engage with people and nature, and how the lens we use shapes the solutions we create.
