Al-Sultan Abdullah Royal Tiger Reserve

The Al-Sultan Abdullah Royal Tiger Reserve (ASARTR) is the first reserve of its kind in Malaysia, dedicated to the conservation of the critically endangered Malayan Tiger (Panthera tigris jacksoni). Adjacent to Taman Negara, ASARTR significantly expands the core tiger habitat in one of Malaysia’s largest and most important tiger landscapes. Managed by Pahang State Parks and operated by Enggang Management Services, the Reserve enlists expert partners from BORA, Nature-Based Solutions, Panthera, and The Habitat Foundation to ensure effective implementation. Beyond tigers, the establishment of ASARTR will secure vital habitats for other endangered species as well as benefit the local communities by invigorating the local economy of Hulu Tembeling and creating a shared responsibility for conservation efforts.

ASARTR is a reason for hope. The Habitat Foundation is proud to have been closely involved in the initiative to protect this area since 2021. We will continue to devote efforts to providing technical support to ensure it fulfils its species conservation objectives as well as benefits to local communities in adjacent areas in close collaboration with the Pahang State Park Corporation and Enggang Holdings.
