Our Values

We live out our mission through five core values that drive the way we work,
collaborate, and show up for people and nature.

Caring
in all our interactions we shall conduct ourselves with sincerity and integrity, and always seek to nurture genuine human connections.
Creative
we are always open to fresh approaches and solutions, and opportunities to implement new ideas and innovations to achieve sustainability and communicate conservation effectively.
Collaborative
we believe in working with partners at all levels of society. We are always expanding our network, and enabling positive change wherever we can.
Credible
we are a science and evidence-based organisation. We are always updating our understanding, and accessing new information and technology in order to be relevant, authoritative and engaged.
Committed
the changes we seek are challenging and complex to accomplish, yet we consciously cultivate the characteristics of optimism and determination and encourage one to persevere.

What We Do

As a charitable trust, The Habitat Foundation provides funding in the form of small grants to aspiring changemakers. We believe that lasting change begins with empowered individuals and communities.

Beyond funding, we work on the ground with local changemakers and a network of partners committed to conservation. By connecting ideas with action, we aim to inspire meaningful, on-the-ground impact where it’s needed most.

Our Pillars

Our five pillars anchor our approach, shaping the way we act, fund, partner,
and drive lasting impact for people and nature.

Conservation

We support initiatives to safeguard biodiversity, reverse the loss and degradation of natural ecosystems, and advocate for the sustainable use of natural resources.

Research

We fund research to better understand our natural world and to identify actionable solutions to protect nature and the environment.

Education

We create and implement compelling environmental education programmes for all levels of society in order to nurture respect for nature and a commitment to reducing our environmental impact.

Sustainability

We support technological innovation and the adoption of regenerative systems in order to usher in new standards and norms and shift our society towards sustainability.

Training

We support efforts to build capacity among conservation practitioners, community organisers and other strategic frontliners to strengthen their impact and to build supportive networks.
