This study supports sustainable building solutions in Ulu Bengoh by promoting bamboo as an alternative to timber. It seeks to build local skills, improve housing resilience, and create livelihood and tourism opportunities.

Strengthen local  communities‘ expertise in treating and building with bamboo so that they can use the locally abundant bamboos for construction, hence reducing the dependence on limited timber resources

Architect Charlotte Chambers has over a decade of experience in bamboo and timber research and community-based design. Working with Jerome Simo, a Bidayuh bamboo craftsman, they will work in close collaborations with village leaders and local households to build capacity to utilise renewable natural resources for longer-lasting building solutions.
